The fruits and vegetables subsector of Aragon generates €134.2 million per year, representing 7.6 % of the final agricultural output and approximately 0.3 % of the Autonomous Community’s GDP.çTwo Protected Designations of Origin stand out for their recognized prestige and exclusivity: “Melocotón de Calanda” (Calanda Peach) and “Cebolla Fuentes de Ebro” (Fuentes de Ebro Onion), along with the C’ALIAL quality mark for borage and fruit produced under the country’s most extensive integrated treatment monitoring network.
Also notable are the genetic improvement programs at CITA focused on developing new almond varieties such as Soleta and Belona.
Aragonese food heritage
In the heart of Aragon, the land holds an invisible treasure, woven with patience and memory. They are not just fields; they are the hands that, generation after generation, have safeguarded flavors that are almost fading.
Small seeds, humble and resilient, that hide stories of effort, identity, and rootedness.
This project arises from deep respect for those who, far from the spotlight, have kept alive the crops that progress once sought to forget.
